last summer i had the honour to make the visuals together with VJ R:A:U:L: for ZEE at the Barcamp Popakademie Mannheim. We build up a very special setup with a lot of plexi glas planes, on which the big triplehead content was projected once again in small. the idea was that it does not depend where you stay in the room to see the visuals. this is where VJ R:AU:L: and i realised that we should work more together you could also say the beginning of interzone42

a more than 250 square meter projection at the museum of modern art in düren, germany. realised with just one triplehead2go and three projectors.

baba roga’s revenge voirchestra is a remixed silent movie ambient art installation with djing and live soundscapes it could also be descriped as a expanded cinema experience. i remixed the movie Häxan (Witchcraft Through the Ages) made 1922 from Benjamin Christensen. The idea of the projection is, that on one screen the movie follows his narration and on two other screens i comment the actual narration with material from the movie and bring in some vj, video art aesthetics. dj witwe bolte is playing a lot of freaky sounds and hagen von detten is playing the guitar and other crazy instruments all through lots of effects so that there are a lot of soundscapes and experimental electronic noises.

last saturday i had the honour to perform on the enjoy jazz opening party. after i had setup my equipment and the projectors, handled some bigger problems with the videosignal and some strange disburbing waves “is what?” started with their concert. “Who dreams of sex in silk sheets when he only gets his angst under control with a daily ration of drugs?” the music critic Jonathan Fischer asks in the recently brought out “Trikont” compilation, “Message Soul: Politics & Soul in Black America 1998-2008”. It is, of course, a purely rhetorical question because the album deals with the re-politicising black music with protagonists like Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Me´shell Ndegeocello and Anthony Hamilton. A project like ISWHAT?! fits perfectly into the picture because also the rapper Napoleon Maddox firmly takes everyday life into perspective with highly differentiated stories of poverty, drugs, violence and racism. Maddox’s raps remind one of the radical The Last Poets, but ISWHAT?!’s jazzy-groovy music fortunately revives a hip hop tradition that had long seemed deserted.
ISWHAT?! tightly links to where A Tribe Called Quest and The Roots once dug their beats. Cochema Castelum’s saxophone improvisations create ample nervousness and Hamid Drake is one of the best drummers in the world.
is what? really understands to perform perfect with the audiance and the concert developed to the heidelberg circus so all of that it was an really nice concert. after the concert the galactic party started where i could make some visuls. unfortunately the party was not well visited so that i could finish my performance at 3 o’ clock. this wasnt that bad cause i played on friday till 6 o’clock so that i was looking forward to fall into my bed.

i will make an amazing visual concept for a club – yesterday i made the first projection tests on the surprising wallpaper. first i was afraid that the wallpaper will kill the light but it turned out that it is extra cool to projekt on that.

iPhone Musik-Performance mit Visual Art
ZEE. Zaboura Eichstaedt Experience im Rahmen der Programmreihe tent am i-camp

Das Performance-Art-Duo ZEE. Zaboura Eichstaedt Experience hat sich auf die Verschmelzung aktueller Technologietrends mit klassischen Performance-Ansätzen spezialisiert.
Im Rahmen der iPhone Musik-Performance im Münchner i-camp wird das Duo aus München / Stuttgart / Düsseldorf gemeinsam mit dem Visual Artist Benjamin Jantzen, Mannheim, und einer vorher über das Internet rekrutierten Gruppe von iPhone Musikern zum interaktiven Austausch aufrufen. Die beiden Künstler werden dabei in die Rolle musikalischer Regisseure schlüpfen und die musikalische Telefongruppe, die speziell für das iPhone entwickelte Musik-Software einsetzen wird, nach den Regeln gelenkter, frei improvisierter Musik steuern.
Das iPhone als Telekommunikationsinstrument wird hierbei in einen neuen Kontext gestellt: den der musikalischen Nahkommunikation. Überraschungen und Einbeziehung des Publikums sind dabei vorprogrammiert.

Die iPhone Musik-Performance wird unterstützt von i-camp/neues theater münchen und muenchen 851.

Nadia Zaboura, das große “Z” in ZEE, ist Kommunikationswissenschaftlerin und Expertin für Technologie- und Kreativwirtschaft. Ihre künstlerische Vergangenheit brachte sie vom klassischen Tanz zu Rollen im staatlichen Grillo Theater, Essen. Sie spielte Bass in mehreren Bands und Künstlerkollektiven, lebt ihre Stimme in verschiedenen Audio- und Videoproduktionen im Netz aus und liebt ZEN. Sie lebt in Stuttgart und Düsseldorf.

Björn Eichstädt, als “E” im Zentrum von ZEE, ist PR- und Medienexperte, Internetter und Expertimentalmusiker. Vom klassischen Klavier kommend, entdeckte er in der Jugend elektronische Musikintstrumente und Anfang seiner 20er die frei improvisierte Musik. Seit Mitte der 90er Jahre parallel die Erkundung des Internets und die Produktion zahlreicher experimenteller CDs. Im Jahr 2008 die Kollision mit dem iPhone und eine neue Idee. Er lebt in München.

Special Guest:
Benjamin Jantzen alias VJ Pixelschubser ist Künstler aus Mannheim, der sich voll und ganz dem Video hingegeben hat. Er ist nicht nur als VJ tätig sondern geht auch Wege im Bereich Ballett, Theater und Installation. Interaktionen sind seine Passion. Jantzen ist zudem Initiator und Leiter der “B-Seite”, dem Festival für visuelle Kunst und Jetztkultur in Mannheim.
